On 24th September 2006 Hibeernian challenged Livingston GS to friendly match.  The game was played in great spirit and the result ran out 3-3.

This can officially be regarded as the foundation of the Scottish Supporters Mini League.  From there on, the 2 teams kept in touch via their supporters forums, hibs.net for the Hibs boys, and livilions.co.uk for the Livi guys.

After the match both the 'Beers and Livi GS were approached by another team, Morningside Victoria FC (now known as Boroughmuir) who were all former pupils of Boroughmuir High School.  As expected another few friendlies were played out between the 3 teams, then a 4th team came into the mix....Pie&Bovril, a tartan army website. It wasn't long before the word spread and there were more supporters teams making enquiries into being part of this new founded friendly circle, sides such as Bairnfica (Falkirk) and Raith Rovers International Supporters Club.

After more of what was becoming repetitive challenge games, Dean from Livi GS suggested the involved teams should all send in results and create our own mini league....and the SSML was born.  Some web space and a domain name was purchased for the purpose of holding the league table and each of the 5 teams were given their own section to upload player profiles and other such information.

Originally consisting of a 5 team league the format of the SSML was to be each team playing each other 2 times per season, once at home and once away, with the fixtures being agreed at the convenience of both teams.

Livingston GS won the inaugural SSML title in 2007.

For season 2008 Bairnfica departed and joined the SSFL, a Sunday amateur league for supporters teams. However the SSML saw new enquiries from a few other sides  such as Beechwood Albion (Stirling Albion), Lothian Rangers, Dunfermline and most recently Holyrood Hearts.

Today the SSML is attracting interest from team from all over Scotland and is looking healthier than ever with the standard of football improving all round.

Plans for the future are to host a cup tournament among the SSML teams with perhaps a few other teams invited to participate.
